Hotel Review: Buffalo Marriott at LECOM HARBORCENTER – Waterfront Views, Ice Rinks & Prime Downtown Access

This stay at the Buffalo Marriott at LECOM HARBORCENTER was a fun way to wrap up my 2025 travel year. My family planned a short getaway just before Christmas, and we wanted a hotel that let us take advantage of downtown activities, waterfront views, and a solid lineup of nearby food spots — all without needing to drive everywhere.

Believe it or not, this hotel is celebrating its 10-year anniversary, which somehow makes this 13-year-old feel very old… mostly because I remember being here so many times over those ten years.

Arrival & Check-In

We arrived just after 3 p.m. and pulled into the valet area. A friendly valet took our check-in info, asked if we needed help with bags, and quickly brought us a luggage cart — always appreciated.

Check-in happens on the 7th floor, where we met Korey at the front desk. He made the process quick and easy, but what stood out most was how welcoming he was — answering my questions, giving recommendations, and actually taking time to talk with me.

The lobby has an open, connected layout that blends the restaurant, bar, lounge seating, hotel market, and meeting space access all into one area. It felt lively but still relaxed.

The Room – Two Queen Lake View (19th Floor)

We booked a Two Queen room and were given a lake-view room on the 19th floor. The room was bright, clean, and roomy, with two comfy beds, a couch, and a table — plus plenty of space for luggage and shopping bags.

The view was a highlight, overlooking Lake Erie and many of the surrounding waterfront attractions. Natural light filled the room, and the lighting setup made it feel open and comfortable at all times of day.

The bathroom was bright with a stand-up shower (always a win for me). The only thing that took getting used to was the lack of a desk. If I could change one thing, I’d love to see a sit-stand desk by the window added during a future renovation.

Wi-Fi & Gaming Setup

Connecting to the internet was easy on all of my devices — laptop, phone, iPad, and Nintendo Switch. The Wi-Fi here was fast — really fast. In fact, it ranks in the Top 5 on my Hotel Wi-Fi Speed Leaderboard.

If you’re curious how this hotel compares to others I’ve tested, you can check out my Hotel Wi-Fi Speed Leaderboard on ThisTeenTravelz.com, where I track real speed tests and rankings.

Console gamers should know one thing: the TV is wall-mounted, and the HDMI port is extremely difficult to access on your own. But it’s not game over. If you call the front desk, they can send an engineer to help connect your console — and the staff is already aware this needs fixing during a future renovation.

Since we were only here for one night and wanted to focus on outdoor activities, we didn’t hook up my Switch this time — but it is possible with help.

Pool Vibes? More Like Cool Vibes

This hotel doesn’t have a pool — but instead, it has two NHL-regulation ice rinks attached to the building. That was a first for me, and honestly, a pretty cool trade-off.

The gym was a decent size with a lot of equipment: weight benches, a full rack of weights, a multi-gym, yoga gear, cardio machines, plus seated leg curl and leg extension machines. There’s plenty to work with, although it does feel a bit tight because of how much equipment is packed in.

On-Site Dining – Panorama on Seven

The hotel’s restaurant is Panorama on Seven, and this is where you go for main-character vibes.

Thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows on the seventh floor, you get incredible views of the Buffalo waterfront and Lake Erie. It feels a bit more polished and grown-up than other nearby spots, making it a great choice for sunset dinners, aesthetic brunches, or just taking photos with a view.

Since this is a full-service Marriott, room service is also available.

M Club Lounge Experience

Because my dad is a Marriott Bonvoy Elite member, we had access to the M Club Lounge, and it ended up being another highlight of our stay.

The lounge is on the smaller side, but it’s bright, comfortable, and has great views with a mix of seating options. The staff were friendly and attentive, keeping items stocked and making sure everything ran smoothly.

We stopped in for evening hors d’oeuvres and breakfast. Dinner offerings included a solid variety of snacks, and breakfast featured scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, breads, pastries, yogurt parfaits, and fresh fruit.

Bonus points: they serve Coca-Cola products, which you don’t always see in Marriott lounges.

There’s also a Tim Hortons on the first floor that you can access without going outside — perfect for a quick snack or caffeine fix.

Food Options Nearby

Since there are so many good food options around the hotel, I broke everything down into a separate teen-focused guide covering the best restaurants near the Buffalo Marriott at LECOM Harborcenter — including what’s walkable, what’s worth a short drive, and my personal favorites based on real visits.

We had dinner at Southern Tier Brewery, which is connected to the LECOM HARBORCENTER complex — meaning you don’t have to go outside. It’s a sports fan’s dream, with a massive 36-foot TV showing games and events.

We shared fried pickles, a pretzel, and a Philly cheesesteak — all really solid.

Things to Do Around the Hotel

The biggest win of staying here is the location. If you’re planning your days beyond the hotel itself, I also put together a full teen-focused guide to things to do near the Buffalo Marriott at LECOM HARBORCENTER — covering walkable attractions, short drives, and spots I’ve personally experienced.

Canalside is just steps from the hotel and completely transforms with the seasons — ice skating and ice bumper cars in winter, kayaking, food trucks, and concerts in summer. On our visit, my mom and I took on the ice bumper cars while my dad and sister went skating.

The hotel is also connected to KeyBank Center, home of the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bandits, plus concerts and major events.

Other nearby highlights include:

Final Thoughts

This stay was a memorable way to close out my 2025 travels. What really makes the Buffalo Marriott at LECOM HARBORCENTER stand out is its location — you can walk to food, entertainment, Canalside, and events without needing your car.

From a teen perspective, this hotel checks the boxes that matter most: fast Wi-Fi, comfortable rooms, tons of nearby activities, and a totally unique setup with ice rinks instead of a pool. It’s also an excellent choice for hockey tournaments, concerts, and family getaways.

Most importantly, the staff here once again proved that what truly makes a hotel great is the people.
