North Carolina was a big part of my spring road trip — from a birthday weekend in Wilmington to surprise stays in Raleigh and a mall-hopping stop in Charlotte. This page pulls together all my North Carolina hotel reviews so far, with more to come. Expect my usual focus on Wi-Fi, gaming setups, pool vibes, and teen-approved tips.

SpringHill Suites Lumberton

Bright, newly renovated rooms, comfy trundle sofa bed, and a clean layout make this SpringHill Suites a great overnight stop for road trippers on I-95. Wi-Fi speeds hit 27.9 Mbps down and 43.1 Mbps up, the Nintendo Switch setup was easy once we moved the dresser, and there’s a solid pizza spot—Your Pie—just across the parking lot. Aloft Wilmington at Coastline Center

My first-ever Aloft stay (and on my birthday!) delivered loft-style rooms, balcony views of the Cape Fear River, and even Uno battles in the lobby. Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley

This one was an unexpected surprise after a last-minute change, but the Concierge Lounge totally stole the show — sandwiches, pasta, desserts, and Oscar night watch party vibes. The room was small and HDMI setup tricky, but Wi-Fi was great, staff were awesome, and Crabtree Valley Mall is right across the street.

Renaissance Raleigh North Hills Hotel

A stylish property in the heart of North Hills with fast Wi-Fi, easy console setup, and walkable dining. I even ran into NHL players during my stay. The only problem? A burst water pipe cut things short. Still, I’d go back for another try because the location and vibe were solid.

Charlotte Marriott SouthPark

Clean rooms with hardwood floors, a walkable location near SouthPark Mall, and strong Wi-Fi were wins. But the TV setup wasn’t gamer-friendly, and the pool was closed for the season. If you’re more into shopping than Switch gaming, this spot delivers.
