Hotels That Listen – SpringHill Suites Lumberton Actually Changed Their Breakfast Because of My Review
Sometimes when I make these hotel reviews, I wonder who’s actually watching. Are hotel teams seeing them? Do they care about what I have to say?
Well… this week, I got my answer. And honestly? It was pretty cool.
The Backstory
If you’ve been following along, you probably saw my full review of the SpringHill Suites Lumberton go live recently. It was a one-night stop during my Summer 2025 road trip, and the hotel was actually really solid overall—clean, renovated, easy console setup, good Wi-Fi, and even a great pizza place across the parking lot.
But I was honest about the one thing that felt like a miss: the breakfast.
In the video, I mentioned how the hot items (like quiches and sandwiches) were pre-packaged and served still in their wrappers, even in the warming trays. It didn’t look very appetizing, and my family ended up skipping breakfast and hitting Buc-ee’s instead.
Then I Got an Email…
A few days after the video went live, I got a response from Chris, the Front Office Manager at SpringHill Suites Lumberton. Here’s what he said:
“Your video has been very helpful to our team… We’ve taken your comments about the presentation at breakfast to heart, and when we serve breakfast sandwiches they now go out to the buffet without their wrappers, creating a much more appetizing display.”
How awesome is that?
He also mentioned that they shared the video with their whole team and that they all agreed I did great work. That seriously meant a lot to hear.
Why This Matters
I’m only 13, and I know most hotel reviews are written by adults. But teens notice things too—and what we care about (Wi-Fi, console setup, food that actually looks edible) isn’t always what adults talk about.
Getting this kind of response shows that teen feedback matters. And that good hotels actually listen.
Final Thoughts
Big shoutout to the team at SpringHill Suites Lumberton for not just watching my review, but actually acting on it. That’s what hospitality is all about. Hopefully, the next time families stop in, their breakfast experience feels a little better—without the plastic wrap.
Have you ever had a hotel respond to your feedback like this? I’d love to hear your stories too.
