Hotel Review: Delta Hotels Muskegon Convention Center – Window-Wrapped Pool, Beachside BBQ & Downtown Vibes

Bright pool, beachside tacos, and a welcome tour from the sales team? Muskegon might not be on your radar yet—but it should be.

We stayed one night at the Delta Hotels Muskegon Convention Center during our Michigan summer road trip, and this place turned into a surprise hit. From the glass-wrapped indoor pool to one of the best beach restaurants I’ve visited (hi, The Deck!), it delivered major vacation vibes in just 24 hours.

Let’s get into it!

Check-In & First Impressions

We rolled in from Grand Rapids a little after 2:30 p.m. (with a quick Grand Haven stop), pulled into the temporary parking, and immediately spotted… so many luggage carts.

  • Luggage cart heaven: Easily the most I’ve seen at one hotel. Unloading = fast and painless.
  • Friendly front desk: Smooth, quick check-in with a genuinely warm welcome.
  • Shoutout: We met Kerah, who arranged our stay. She gave us a quick tour of the connected convention center, shared property history, and loaded us up with local food + activity tips.

Lobby & Common Spaces

Open, bright, and inviting—great energy for a quick hang or getting some work done.

  • Seating variety: Loungers, café tables, and spots with built-in outlets (or plugs nearby).
  • Layout: Lobby → bar, Starbucks to one side, Walker’s (hotel restaurant) to the other.
  • Overall vibe: Modern and comfortable without trying too hard.

Our Room: 2 Queens, 8th Floor (Top Floor)

The room was clean, bright, and had a legit Lake Muskegon + downtown view.

  • Highlights:
    • Two comfy queen beds
    • Desk with chair
    • Reading chair + side table + lamp
    • Large modern TV
    • Mini-fridge
    • Closet with solid space
    • Stand-up shower with strong pressure + steady temp
  • Top-floor bonus: Clear views, quiet night’s sleep.

Tech, Wi-Fi & Gaming Setup

  • Wi-Fi: Easy to connect on laptop, phone, iPad, and Nintendo Switch. Not the fastest this year, but totally fine for streaming and light gaming (Roblox had a little lag). Want the exact ranking? Check my Hotel Wi-Fi Speed Leaderboard.
  • Outlets: A+ for tech families:
  • Four outlets under the TV, more on the desk lamp, and even more on the side of the desk.
  • My power strip was so unneeded it asked for PTO.
  • Console hookup: TV on a swing-out mount + clearly labeled HDMI sticker behind the screen = plug, click, play. Teen-gamer approved.

Pool & Fitness Center

This pool steals the show.

  • Indoor pool: Floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides + two skylights. Bright, airy, and way more resort-y than I expected.
  • Deck access: Doors lead to a sunny outdoor patio/sundeck with loungers and couch seating.
  • Fitness center: Split into two rooms with cardio machines, free weights, a Peloton, and more.
  • Overall: One of my favorite indoor pool setups of 2025 so far.

Food & On-Site Options

  • Walker’s Restaurant: Midwest-American brasserie style; classic dishes and a cozy vibe (I kept imagining how good it would look at the holidays).
  • Starbucks: Yes, please.
  • Lobby market: Snacks, drinks, and last-minute essentials.
  • Breakfast at Walker’s: Thanks to my dad’s Titanium status, breakfast was included. We all had the Rise & Shine (eggs, bacon or sausage, toast, and potatoes/hash browns). Service was great and plates came out hot.

Nearby Eats (Walkable or a Short Drive)

All within about a 10-minute walk unless noted:

Must-do pick: The Deck (15-minute drive) at Pere Marquette Beach

  • Beach views, live music, swings, foosball, cornhole, and great BBQ (get the sliders so you can try more flavors).
  • Heads-up: Beach parking is $10 at Pere Marquette.

Things to Do in Muskegon (Teen & Family Faves)

Teen Travel Tips

  • Bring a Switch/Console/HDMI—the setup here is effortless.
  • Plan a pool hour: daylight through those windows is 🔥 (well, not literally).
  • Hit The Deck close to sunset for food + live music + beach views.
  • Use the outlets: this is one room where you won’t fight for plugs.
  • Check the Farmers Market if you’ll be in town Tue/Thu/Sat (summer) or Sat (winter).

Final Verdict: Teen Travelz Approved

I didn’t expect Muskegon to be this fun. In one day we got lake views, a bright, sun-soaked pool, walkable local food, and a staff that made the stay feel personal.

Delta Hotels Muskegon Convention Center is officially This Teen Travelz Approved.
Would I come back? Definitely—especially in summer.

This stay is a good example of how my teen hotel perspective weighs the full experience — not just one category.

A Heartfelt Thank-You

Kerah, thank you for welcoming my family like we were regulars. You didn’t just set up a room—you helped design a day we’ll remember. The best hotels aren’t just buildings with restaurants and amenities; they’re places where the people turn a stay into a memory. Your tour, your tips, and your pride in Muskegon made this quick stop feel like a full-on getaway. I’m grateful.

Thanks for reading—see you in the next review!
