Hotel Review: Delta Hotels Toronto Airport & Conference Centre — Giant Pool, Loft Suite Surprise & A Pantry Win (But Slow Wi-Fi)

This one’s a little different. I usually travel with my family, but I got sick right before this stay. I still wanted to cover the Delta Hotels Toronto Airport & Conference Centre (Toronto, ON), so my parents stepped in: photos, notes, and full walkthroughs. Consider this a parents-on-the-ground, teen-curated review.

Arrival & First Impressions

My parents arrived just before 6 p.m., used the side entrance (closest to parking), and instantly clocked lots of luggage carts—always a good sign.
Check-in was quick and easy (thanks, Naqeeb). The lobby is conference-hotel big, dressed for the holidays, and—even with multiple parties running—elevators were always waiting at the lobby level. Bonus: an on-site convenience store with toiletries, snacks, and Toronto souvenirs.

The Room: Corner Bi-Level Loft Suite (11th Floor)

We originally booked two standard rooms (2Q for me/sis + 1K for parents). With me out sick, the front desk upgraded my parents to a 1 King, Corner, Bi-Level Loft—basically the size of two large rooms.

Main Level

  • Oversized desk + mini-fridge
  • Living area with couch, armchair & ottoman, and a large TV
  • Six-seat dining table (great for teams/families)
  • Long wet-bar cabinet run with tons of storage (a couple empty zones felt like space for a bigger fridge or half-bath)
  • Huge windows = tons of natural light

Upper Level

  • King bedroom with lots of closet space + another large TV
  • A secondary door leading to the 12th (top) floor
  • Bathroom with a stand-up shower, strong pressure, and reliable temps

Overall: a unique, vertical layout you don’t usually see in this category.

Wi-Fi & Plug-In Tips

Connecting was easy on phones/tablet/laptop, but speeds were slowbottom-5 on my Hotel Wi-Fi Speed Leaderboard right now. (You can see exactly where it ranks on my site.)

Console/HDMI tip (tested with my dad’s laptop):

  • Both TVs (living room + bedroom) sit on cabinets with accessible power bars.
  • Do not try to route through the Marriott Entertainment box (no input button on the remote).
  • Instead, unplug the hotel’s HDMI from the TV, plug in yours, and plug theirs back in when you’re done so the next guest isn’t stuck troubleshooting.

Pool & Fitness Center

The indoor pool area is huge—wide footprint and very tall ceiling. One of the biggest interior pool rooms I’ve covered:

  • Separate hot tub
  • Big windows (daytime light will be great)
  • Stair entry that’s close to zero-entry feel on one side
  • Mixed seating (some empty zones because the room is so big)

The gym is solid for the brand:

  • Multi-gym + full dumbbell rack + two benches
  • Ellipticals, treadmills, bikes
  • Leg extension & leg curl
  • Yoga gear
  • Fridge with water and cold towels

On-Site Dining & Starbucks

  • Starbucks: daily 6:30 a.m.–6 p.m.
  • Lot41 Social Bar & Table: broad menu, hotel pricing, convenient if you’re staying in
  • Ginko Japanese Restaurant: long-running spot known for fresh sushi/sashimi
  • Orchid Café (Breakfast): buffet + à la carte. As Titanium Elite, my dad chose breakfast for two over parking. Standouts: light scrambled eggs and herbed breakfast potatoes. Buffet also had cheeses, cured meats, yogurts, fruit, cereals, pancakes, pastries, juices, etc.

Delta Pantry (24/7)

First time my parents tried a Delta Pantry, and they were genuinely impressed—better than some lounges we’ve seen:

  • Morning pastries + fruit
  • Ice cream cups, frozen soups, microwave breakfast sandwiches
  • Hummus & crackers, cheese, hard-boiled eggs
  • Drinks: water, soft drinks, juice, Bubly, milk/chocolate milk
  • Cereal, ramen, snack bars & cookies
  • Coffee machine was down one morning → the hotel handed out Starbucks vouchers to Pantry-eligible guests. Great service recovery.

Food Nearby (Short Drive)

All ~15 minutes or less:

  • Zets — Greek-Canadian diner, massive portions (I go chicken souvlaki or a charbroiled burger).
  • Zorro’s Steakhouse — old-school vibe, excellent steak & service.
  • Peter’s on Eglinton — legendary smoked meat/Reubens and huge souvlaki dinners.

Walkable (≤5 minutes): Harvey’s, Milestones, Swiss Chalet, Tim Hortons. Dixon Road has lots more casual choices toward the airport.

Surprising Things To Do

Pro tip: A few attraction listings on the hotel’s site are outdated. Double-check hours/availability directly.

Explore the Area (Map)

This hotel surprised us with how much there is to do both inside and nearby. I’ve pinned the hotel, key on-site dining, a few standout local restaurants, and some unexpected attractions — including one that’s literally inside the hotel — so you can quickly see what’s close by and what’s worth checking out during your stay.

Final Thoughts (No Official Verdict This Time)

Because I didn’t personally stay here, I’m not giving my usual “This Teen Travelz Approved” verdict—that wouldn’t be fair to the property or to you. Based on my parents’ experience, though, here’s what stands out:

What shines

  • Unique bi-level loft suites with serious space
  • Massive pool and a well-equipped gym
  • Excellent breakfast and an above-expectations Delta Pantry
  • Lots of dining options on-site and nearby
  • Reliable elevators even during busy events
  • Friendly, proactive staff (Starbucks vouchers for Pantry guests when the coffee machine was down)

What falls short

  • Slow Wi-Fi (bottom-5 on my leaderboard right now)

Who it fits

  • Tournament teams & groups (space, pool, Pantry, breakfast)
  • Families overnighting before/after flights
  • Travelers who value on-site options and big common areas

I definitely want a do-over stay when I’m better—mostly for the A320 sim, big pool, and to run my own Wi-Fi test for the leaderboard.

Credits & Thanks

Huge thanks to Mom & Dad for covering this one and sharing full notes/video. And shoutout to Naqeeb at the front desk for the smooth check-in.
