Hotel Review: Fairfield Inn & Suites Washington Casino Area – Outlet Shopping, 2 Kings & Gaming Wins
If you’re looking for a great stopover near Pittsburgh with outlet access, spacious rooms, and a staff that actually cares, the Fairfield Inn & Suites Washington Casino Area in Washington, Pennsylvania is totally worth checking out. We’ve stayed here a few times after road trips down south, but this time I finally did a full review—and it’s got a lot going for it.

First Impressions & Lobby Vibes
We rolled in from Blacksburg, Virginia in the late afternoon. The hotel was easy to spot and had lots of parking. Inside, we were greeted right away by Stephanie and Haley—two super friendly and helpful staff members who made check-in fast and smooth.
This Fairfield used to be a Cambria Hotel, which is why it doesn’t look like your usual Fairfield. The lobby is way bigger, has a modern feel, and way more seating than you’d expect. And unlike most Fairfields… this one has a full restaurant on-site. Huge bonus.
Room Tour: The Rare 2 King Combo
We stayed in a 2 King Bed Guest Room, and yes—TWO king beds in one room! I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels, and this is the only time I’ve had that setup. The room was clean, spacious, and had:
- A microwave, coffee maker, and mini fridge
- A large modern TV
- A decent-sized stand-up shower in the bathroom
The only downside? Not enough outlets. Especially near the desk area. I always recommend packing a power bar or travel strip, and this stay was a good reminder why.
Gaming Setup & Wi-Fi
The Wi-Fi was easy to connect across all my devices—Switch, phone, iPad, laptop—and was strong enough for streaming and online gaming. It wasn’t top-tier, but it worked just fine. You can check where this hotel ranks on my Hotel Wi-Fi Speed Leaderboard.
If you’re planning to connect a console, ask for the special HDMI remote at the front desk. The regular remote won’t let you change the input. Shoutout to Stephanie again—she offered it right away when she saw I was carrying my Nintendo Switch.
Pool, Gym & Outdoor Vibes
The indoor pool is small but solid, with a few tables and chairs for relaxing. But just outside the pool area is a chill outdoor patio with loungers, tables, and umbrellas—perfect if the weather’s nice.
The gym was a good size for a Fairfield, with plenty of cardio machines and a full weight setup. You could definitely get in a proper workout here.
Food Options: Restaurant On-Site + Walkable Eats
Here’s where this Fairfield really stands out—it has a restaurant open daily from 5–10 p.m. We’ve eaten there before, and the food is great. It’s super convenient, especially when you’re too tired to go out.
But if you’re up for a walk, there are tons of food spots nearby:
- Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Burger King (all within a 5 min walk)
- Waffle House is right across the street
- Sheetz is about 10 mins away for snacks and drinks
- And of course, I had to hit up Primanti Bros., one of my favorite Pittsburgh spots—fries on the sandwich, always.
Inside the hotel, you’ll also find a Corner Market next to the front desk for quick drinks or snacks.
Free Breakfast = Solid Start
Breakfast is included, and like most Fairfields lately, it was consistent and reliable. They had:
- Hot and cold options
- Waffles, cereal, eggs, sausage, yogurt, and fruit
- Good refill pace
Fairfield’s breakfast game has definitely been on point recently—and this one kept that streak going.
Things to Do Nearby
My family always makes time for shopping, and this hotel is less than 5 minutes from the Tanger Outlets Pittsburgh. Since Pennsylvania has no sales tax on clothes, it’s basically shopping paradise for us.
Looking for something more unique? The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum is only about a 10-minute drive. It’s a fun and different kind of stop, especially if you’re into trains, trolleys, or just want something new to explore. Check their site first to confirm hours.
Final Thoughts: Teen-Approved Road Trip Gem
If you’re on a road trip and need a place that’s easy, comfortable, and loaded with food + shopping options, this hotel checks the boxes. It’s got a different layout than most Fairfields (in a good way), a 2 King room setup that’s super rare, and an on-site restaurant—something I wish more Fairfields had.
The Wi-Fi worked, the Switch was easy to hook up, and the staff were awesome—huge thanks again to Stephanie and Haley for making us feel welcome and seen. This place has become one of my family’s regular road trip stops for a reason.
Definitely This Teen Travelz Approved.
