For this Residence Inn Orlando at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS stay, I wanted to see if the hotel still worked for my family when we were not spending our days inside the Disney parks.
My family and I spent two nights at the Residence Inn by Marriott Orlando at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS® Town Center during our Epic Summer 2025 Road Trip, where we travelled for 19 days and stayed at 14 different hotels.
This was not our first time staying here.
On our first visit, we stayed at this hotel while visiting Walt Disney World® Resort, and it worked really well for our family. We remembered it as a relaxed place to stay, with spacious suites, a really nice pool, easy access to Target, and plenty of food options around FLAMINGO CROSSINGS® Town Center.
This time, our stay was different because we were not planning to visit the theme parks. Instead, we wanted to see if the hotel still worked as a relaxed Orlando stay when the focus was more on the property itself.
We were upgraded to a huge two-bedroom suite, I tested the Wi-Fi, connected my Nintendo Switch, tried the included breakfast, checked out the pool and fitness centre, and explored some of the nearby amenities.
So, was the Residence Inn Orlando at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS® still worth returning to?
Let’s get into it.
Residence Inn Orlando at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS® Review: Arrival & First Impressions
The Residence Inn by Marriott Orlando at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS® Town Center made another strong first impression when we arrived.
I really like the exterior design of this hotel. The entrance feels bright, modern, and welcoming, which fits the relaxed Disney-area vacation feel.
One important cost to know about before arriving is parking. During our stay, self-parking was $20 per day. That is worth adding to your budget, especially if you are staying for several nights.
Check-in was quick and easy. Tyler at the front desk helped us when we arrived and was also available the following day to answer my questions about the hotel and surrounding area.
I also want to mention Ethan, who helped us on the phone before the stay. That kind of pre-arrival help can make things feel smoother before you even get to the hotel.
Lobby Layout
One of the first things I noticed when we walked inside was the hotel’s signature scent, which I really enjoyed.
The lobby felt bright, open, and spacious, with several areas that flowed naturally into one another.
Near the entrance, there were plenty of luggage carts on one side and the hotel market on the other. The main reception area had a large couch and seating area centred around a fireplace.
From there, one side of the lobby led toward the breakfast area, while the other led toward the ticket centre, elevators, and guest rooms.
On the opposite side of the fireplace was another seating area that continued toward the back of the lobby. This is where you could find The Lobby Bar, several different places to sit, and direct access to the outdoor pool area.
Overall, the lobby felt comfortable and well designed. It worked as more than just a place to check in. There was enough space for guests to sit, eat, relax, or spend time outside their rooms without the different areas feeling disconnected.
For a family hotel near Walt Disney World, that matters because guests are often coming and going at different times of day.
Residence Inn Orlando at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS Two-Bedroom Suite Tour
We originally booked a one-bedroom suite with two queen beds, but we were upgraded to a two-bedroom suite on the second floor.
Of course, upgrades depend on availability, so guests should not assume they will receive this room type.
During our previous stay, we stayed in the one-bedroom suite with two queen beds, which was the same room type we had originally booked again for this visit. That suite was also clean, spacious, and worked well for our family.
For this stay, however, the two-bedroom suite gave us even more room.
Full Kitchen and Dining Area
As soon as we entered, the fully equipped kitchen was on the right.
It included a full-size refrigerator with freezer, microwave, stove, dishwasher, coffee maker, cookware, dishes, and utensils.
That is one of the biggest advantages of staying at a Residence Inn, especially near Disney. You can store drinks, snacks, leftovers, frozen food, and groceries instead of relying on restaurants for every meal.
There was also a high-top dining table with four chairs, which gave us a proper place to eat without having to use the desk or living-room seating.
For longer stays, that setup would be even more useful.
King Bedroom and First Bathroom
To the left of the entrance was the first bedroom.
It had a king bed, an armchair, storage space, and a large television. The first bathroom was located beside this bedroom and included a bathtub and shower combination.
This side of the suite worked well because it gave part of the room its own separate space.
Living Room
The main living area had a sofa, ottoman, armchair, large desk, and another television.
There was plenty of space for everyone to sit without the room feeling crowded. The desk also gave me a useful area for my laptop, devices, and Nintendo Switch setup.
This is where the suite started to feel more like a small apartment than a normal hotel room.
For a family of four, having a living room between the bedrooms made the suite feel much more comfortable.
Two Queen Bedroom and Second Bathroom
The second bedroom had two queen beds, another large television, and a nook that worked well for storing luggage and other belongings.
This bedroom also had its own connected bathroom with a stand-up shower.
The water temperature and pressure were excellent in both bathrooms. We especially appreciated having two separate bathrooms because it made getting ready much easier for a family of four.
Overall, this suite was huge, clean, and easily had enough space for all of us.
Everyone had their own space, but we still had a comfortable kitchen and living area where we could spend time together. For families, longer visits, or anyone planning a Disney-area stay with extra room, this suite was one of the biggest strengths of the hotel.
Wi-Fi & Gaming Setup
For this Residence Inn Orlando at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS® review, I also tested the Wi-Fi and Nintendo Switch setup from the suite.
The hotel Wi-Fi was easy to connect to across all of my devices, including my phone, laptop, iPad, and Nintendo Switch.
Unfortunately, connecting was the easy part.
Using Ookla Speedtest from our suite, I recorded speeds of 14.6 Mbps download and 14.9 Mbps upload.
Those speeds were surprisingly slow, especially for a hotel this large and close to Walt Disney World. I also experienced some buffering during the stay and wished the connection had been much faster.

For a hotel that attracts families travelling with phones, tablets, laptops, and gaming systems, this was easily the weakest part of the stay.
Nintendo Switch Setup
Gaming was a more mixed experience.
Our suite had three televisions: one in each bedroom and another in the living room.
Connecting my Nintendo Switch to the television in the king bedroom was difficult because there was no convenient access to an electrical outlet near the TV. That made it the least practical option.
The television in the bedroom with two queen beds worked better because it had a pull-out mount, which made the HDMI ports much easier to access. I was able to connect my Nintendo Switch without much trouble, although a longer HDMI cable could still be helpful.
The living-room television was the easiest option.
I had convenient access to the Marriott entertainment box, and the nearby desk gave me access to an electrical outlet for the Switch dock. However, the desk only had two available outlets, so a travel power strip would be useful if you need to charge several devices in the same area.
I normally travel with one because it makes keeping my phone, laptop, tablet, and gaming equipment together much easier.
Overall, the suite gave me two practical places to connect my Nintendo Switch, but the Wi-Fi was the part that really needed improvement.
Pool Vibes at Residence Inn Orlando at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS
The outdoor pool was one of the main reasons my family wanted to return to this hotel.
It is open daily from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m., which gave us plenty of time to enjoy it without having to plan our entire day around limited pool hours.
The pool area had a relaxed, resort-style atmosphere. It was surrounded by palm trees and colourful landscaping, and the pool itself was large with a unique shape.
I also really liked the fountains flowing into the water because they made the area feel more interesting than a standard rectangular hotel pool.
There were plenty of loungers around the pool, including several shaded areas with umbrellas. Even though this can be a busy family hotel, the pool deck had enough different seating areas that it did not feel like everyone had to gather in one place.
Outdoor Seating, Fire Table and Barbecues
The outdoor space also included Featherstone’s Poolside Bar & Grill, a gazebo with tables and chairs, guest barbecues, and a fire table surrounded by armchairs.
Together, these features made the area feel like more than just somewhere to swim.
Families could eat, relax, sit together, or spend much of the afternoon outside without needing to leave the hotel.
We spent a lot of time at the pool during this visit, especially because we were not going to the theme parks. It was still one of the standout parts of the hotel and helped confirm why this property worked so well for a more relaxed Orlando stay.
For families who want a Disney-area hotel but also want time away from the parks, the pool area is one of the biggest reasons this hotel makes sense.
Fitness Centre
The hotel also had a 24-hour fitness centre, and it was much larger than I expected.
The space was bright, clean, and had plenty of room to move around without the equipment feeling crowded together.
For cardio, there were four treadmills, two ellipticals, and a rowing machine.
The strength-training area included a weight bench, free weights, kettlebells, medicine balls, a multi-gym, a seated leg-curl machine, and a seated chest-press machine. There was also yoga equipment available.
Overall, this was a well-equipped hotel gym with a good mix of cardio, strength training, and stretching options.
It felt like a space where guests could complete a proper workout rather than only having access to a few basic machines.
Breakfast at Residence Inn Orlando at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS
Breakfast was included with our stay and was served from 6:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
The selection included juice, cereal, several types of bread, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, sausages, and veggie patties.
There was also an oatmeal station with different toppings, and my mom especially appreciated that iced coffee was available.
Breakfast could become very busy with families getting ready for the theme parks and other activities, but the area remained stocked and organized during our stay. We did not experience any major problems finding food or getting through the different stations.
Mickey Waffle Station
The standout part of breakfast was the Mickey Mouse waffle station.
The smaller waffle makers usually offered an original batter and a rotating specialty flavour. During our stay, the specialty options included banana bread and cinnamon roll.
The hotel also had a separate waffle maker shaped like one large Mickey Mouse face that was dedicated to gluten-free waffles.
This was the first hotel breakfast where I had seen a dedicated gluten-free option for waffles or pancakes, so it was a thoughtful feature for guests with dietary needs.
For a Disney-area hotel, Mickey waffles make sense. But the specialty flavours and gluten-free waffle maker made the breakfast setup feel more memorable than a basic Residence Inn breakfast.
Food at the Hotel and Nearby
There were several food options available both at the hotel and around FLAMINGO CROSSINGS® Town Center.
At the hotel, The Lobby Bar was open daily for dinner from 4:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.
The pool area also had Featherstone’s Poolside Bar & Grill. Food was available there until 10:30 p.m., while drinks were served until 11:00 p.m.
Because this is a Residence Inn, every suite also includes a full kitchen. That gave us the option to prepare meals, store groceries, or keep snacks and frozen food in the room.
Guest barbecues were also available near the pool area.
FLAMINGO CROSSINGS® Town Center Food Options
We tried several restaurants during the trip.
We ate at Skyline Chili for the first time, which was less than a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
Wendy’s was even closer, at around a five-minute walk. However, I would not recommend this particular location based on our most recent experience. The quality had gone down since our previous visit, which was disappointing because it had been one of the best Wendy’s locations we had tried the first time we stayed in the area.
We also visited Disney Springs and ate at Earl of Sandwich. That has become a tradition whenever we go to Disney Springs because my sister always insists that we stop there.
FLAMINGO CROSSINGS® Town Center had several additional places to eat within walking distance or a short drive, including Firehouse Subs, Five Guys, Pieology Pizzeria, Starbucks, and Wendy’s. A SONIC Drive-In was also expected to open in the area.
Target and Grocery Convenience
Target was another major convenience.
It was a good place to pick up drinks, snacks, breakfast items, and food to keep in the suite’s refrigerator and freezer.
We stocked up on ice cream during our stay, which is exactly the kind of thing that makes having a full-size freezer useful.
Guests looking for a full grocery store could also reach Publix in approximately 10 minutes by car.
For families staying multiple nights, the combination of a full kitchen, nearby Target, and restaurants around FLAMINGO CROSSINGS® Town Center makes the location very practical.
Disney Access and Things to Do
The most obvious reason to stay in this area is the convenient access to Walt Disney World® Resort.
The Residence Inn Orlando at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS® Town Center is located near Disney’s western entrance and is also designated as a Walt Disney World® Gateway Hotel.
Guests looking for attraction tickets or additional information could visit the ticket centre near the elevators. During our stay, it was open daily from 7:00 a.m. until noon.
The hotel also offered complimentary shuttle service to select Walt Disney World theme parks.
During our stay, seats needed to be reserved starting 48 hours before the preferred departure time. After this review was prepared, the hotel let me know that its current transportation company allows shuttle reservations to be made up to 24 hours in advance instead. Availability is still limited, and shuttle times can vary, so guests planning to use the shuttle should check the current schedule and reservation rules before their stay.
During our previous stay, we used the shuttle several times to get to the different Walt Disney World parks. It was a useful option for our family and added to the hotel’s overall convenience as a Disney-area property.
A Disney-Area Hotel Without a Disney Trip
During our first stay at this hotel, we did visit Walt Disney World, and the location offered a lot of convenience and value for our family.
This time, we did not visit any of the theme parks, which gave us a chance to experience the property differently.
Instead of rushing out early every morning, we spent more time enjoying the hotel itself, especially the pool. That helped show that this property could also work for a relaxed Orlando stay rather than only being somewhere to sleep between theme-park days.
That is one of the reasons I liked returning. The hotel worked during a Disney trip, but it also worked when we wanted a slower Orlando stay.
Multi-Sport Courts at the Neighbouring Fairfield
Guests at the Residence Inn could also use the outdoor multi-sport facilities at the neighbouring Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Orlando at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS® Town Center.
The facilities included a basketball court, soccer field, and batting cages.
Tyler at the front desk told us about this amenity, so we walked over to check it out. I even had the chance to play in goal on the soccer field.
This was a useful extra feature for families and teens looking for something active to do away from the pool.
It also made the hotel feel more flexible because guests had access to more than just the amenities inside the Residence Inn itself.
Disney Springs
We also visited Disney Springs, which was approximately a 15- to 20-minute drive from the hotel during our stay.
There were plenty of shops, restaurants, entertainment options, and places to explore, and there was no admission charge to enter Disney Springs.
For us, Disney Springs worked well because we were not going to the parks, but we still wanted something Disney-related to do.
Rocket Launches from Cape Canaveral
Another interesting feature of the hotel’s location was the possibility of seeing rocket launches from Cape Canaveral.
We did not see one during this visit, but we had been able to watch a nighttime launch from the hotel during our previous stay.
That is not something I expected from a Disney-area hotel, but it became a memorable part of our first experience here.
Overall, the location gave guests several different ways to spend their time. It was convenient for Walt Disney World, close enough for a trip to Disney Springs, and had enough hotel and neighbouring-property amenities for a relaxed day without visiting a theme park.

It works especially well for longer visits, larger families, and guests who want access to Disney while still having enough hotel amenities to enjoy a slower day away from the theme parks.
The nearby restaurants, Target, complimentary Disney shuttle, resort-style pool, and access to the multi-sport courts all add to the convenience. That combination is why Residence Inn Orlando at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS still made sense for my family on a return visit.
Standout Strength
The standout strength was the amount of space and flexibility the hotel gave my family.
Our upgraded two-bedroom suite was huge, clean, and comfortable, with two bathrooms, three televisions, a full kitchen, and enough room for everyone to spread out.
Even during our previous stay, the one-bedroom suite was also clean, spacious, and worked well for us.
The pool was another major highlight and remained one of the main reasons we were happy to return.
Honest Drawback
The biggest drawback for me was the Wi-Fi.
Speeds of 14.6 Mbps download and 14.9 Mbps upload were much slower than I expected, and I experienced some buffering during the stay.
For a hotel used by families travelling with phones, tablets, laptops, and gaming systems, the connection should have been much stronger.
On the positive side, this is also the type of hotel where teens have plenty of reasons to put their devices down for a while. Between the pool, multi-sport courts, Disney parks, Disney Springs, nearby restaurants, and everything else around FLAMINGO CROSSINGS® Town Center, there is a lot to experience away from the screen.
So while the Wi-Fi should still be faster, it might also give teens like me an extra excuse to get outside and enjoy more of what the hotel and surrounding area have to offer.
Another drawback was the $20 daily self-parking fee.
As a teen, I was not the one paying for it, but both of my parents mentioned the cost several times during the trip. It stood out because we stayed at some downtown hotels during the same road trip where parking was either included or available at a much lower price.
For families staying several nights, this is an additional expense that can add up quickly.

Even with those drawbacks, this hotel once again gave my family a comfortable and relaxing Orlando stay.
The spacious suites, full kitchens, included breakfast, pool area, Disney access, and nearby amenities outweighed the weak Wi-Fi and parking cost.
