Hotel Review: Fairfield Inn & Suites Brunswick – Fresh Renovation, Buc-ee’s Runs & USB-C Perks
If you’re road-tripping through coastal Georgia, the Fairfield Inn & Suites Brunswick is a convenient, newly refreshed stop right off I-95. We stayed one night during our Summer 2025 road trip and scored an upgraded room in Fairfield’s new design—think USB-C ports, a wireless-charging lamp, and a cleaner, more modern look. Friendly staff, Buc-ee’s 10 minutes away, and plenty of easy dining make this a low-stress stop for families.

First Impressions & Check-In
We rolled in early evening, parked up front, and headed inside. Denise at the front desk was super welcoming and had us checked in fast. The lobby is small, quiet, and cozy with lots of seating split into two areas: reception/breakfast seating to the left and a second seating zone straight ahead. We also noticed plenty of luggage carts, so unloading the car was quick and painless.
Room Tour & Design
We’d booked a 2-Queen, but got upgraded to a Larger Guest Room (2 Queens + Sofa Bed). The room was clean and clearly newly renovated (the hotel finished room updates in early 2025). This Fairfield’s refreshed design felt more modern and functional than older versions.
Highlights teens/families will appreciate:
- USB-C ports and a wireless-charging lamp by the desk
- Wall-mounted TV with smart placement of the Marriott TV box (console-friendly!)
- Extra charging options (USB + USB-C under the TV)
- Bathroom with a tub and blue wallpaper/tile accents that give it a nice pop
Overall: a legit design glow-up that makes the room feel current and travel-tech friendly.
Wi-Fi & Tech Check
Connecting my laptop, phone, iPad, and Nintendo Switch was easy, but speeds were slow and landed in the bottom section of my Hotel Wi-Fi Speed Leaderboard.

Small Wi-Fi rant (not just about this hotel): the captive portal often offers “Standard” vs. “Enhanced” internet. Thanks to my dad’s Titanium status I always select Enhanced, but at a lot of Marriotts it either doesn’t activate or shows “unavailable.” Not the end of the world—just confusing when you’re given a choice that doesn’t consistently work.
Console setup here, though, was excellent. The TV box location made Nintendo Switch hookup fast, and the USB/USB-C ports under the TV are super handy. Tip: even with better-than-average outlets, I still bring a power strip—saves the desk area from cable chaos.
Pool & Gym
At the outdoor pool we found a posted Glynn County Health Department notice: “This Pool is Closed – needs re-inspection. Gate not self-closing.” The gate opened without a key swipe, so the closure made sense. Hopefully it’s a quick fix by the time you visit. The space itself looked good-sized with a mix of loungers, tables, and chairs.
The fitness center is compact but complete:
- Full rack of free weights + bench
- Four cardio machines (rower, 2 treadmills, and an elliptical)
Food Options & Local Eats
The hotel handed us a Restaurant & Shopping Guide that might be the most driver-friendly handout I’ve seen. It lists how many stoplights to each place and which side of the road it’s on—my parents loved that. There’s a wide variety of fast-food and casual spots within a short drive.
And… Buc-ee’s Brunswick is less than 10 minutes away (it had only been open about a month when we visited). We ran over after settling in for dinner + souvenirs—because a road trip isn’t complete without a Buc-ee’s stop.
Breakfast
As a Fairfield, breakfast is included, and this location delivered:
- Waffle station
- Bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, cheese omelets
- Yogurt, milk, juices
- Oatmeal & cereal
- Bagels + other breads
- Fresh fruit (bananas, oranges)
Everything was restocked frequently and made for an easy start before getting back on I-95.
Things to Do (If You’ve Got Time)
We were in quick-stop mode, but if you’re hanging around longer, Brunswick is the Gateway to the Golden Isles, and the islands are beautiful—each about 30–40 minutes away. Highly recommend exploring if you can.
For a Brunswick day:
- Historic Downtown Brunswick – cute shops for my mom and sister, and I’m into the Victorian architecture.
- The Pinball Palace – repeatedly ranked among the best pinball locations in the world. No quarters; you buy 1-hour, 2-hour, or day passes. It’s about 10–15 minutes from the hotel—perfect for a rainy afternoon.
Final Verdict: This Teen Travelz Approved ✅
The Fairfield Inn & Suites Brunswick nails the basics and then some:
- Freshly renovated rooms with USB-C and wireless charging
- Console-friendly TV setup and plenty of places to charge
- Friendly service (thank you, Denise!)
- Free breakfast that’s actually solid
- Buc-ee’s and tons of food options close by
- Right off I-95 for a painless in-and-out
The pool was temporarily closed for a gate re-inspection, but that felt like an easy fix. Wi-Fi speeds were slow during my test, but overall this hotel is great for families and road-trippers. I’d happily stop here again. This Teen Travelz Approved.
Credits & Thanks
Huge thanks to Denise at the front desk for the warm welcome at check-in and the friendly send-off at checkout. Loved chatting Buc-ee’s!
