  • Courtyard Toronto Mississauga/West Hotel Review: Fast Wi-Fi, Spacious Room & a Surprising Stay

This Courtyard Toronto Mississauga/West hotel review starts with something I didn’t expect — Wi-Fi speeds faster than what I’ve experienced at almost every other hotel I’ve tested. Add a spacious studio upgrade, two TVs, and a surprisingly unique indoor pool, and this one-night stay turned out to be more interesting than I anticipated.

But was the rest of the hotel just as impressive?

My dad and I spent one night here during my Hometown Ontario Series, where I explore hotels across Ontario to see which ones are actually worth staying at.

Here’s something funny: I had completely forgotten that I’d stayed at this hotel before.

Years ago, my family stayed here during one of my sister’s hockey tournaments. I was much younger, so I barely remembered the property.

Coming back almost felt like discovering a completely new hotel. This time, though, I was paying attention to everything — especially the Wi-Fi, room setup, and amenities.

So, was the Courtyard Toronto Mississauga/West worth returning to?

Let’s get into it.

Courtyard Toronto Mississauga/West Hotel Review: Arrival & First Impressions

Approaching the Courtyard Toronto Mississauga/West, the hotel has a warm, modern, and welcoming appearance.

Once inside, the check-in desk is on the left, with a seating area on the right. Just beyond the entrance is The Bistro, the hotel’s restaurant.

What really caught my attention was the spacious lobby and living room area.

Lobby, Lounge Seating and Waterfall Feature

The lobby has several comfortable seating arrangements, including couches, tables, and lounge chairs.

My favourite spot was a group of unique lounge chairs positioned in front of a large television. I thought this was a really cool setup and could easily see myself hanging out here.

For families travelling together or hockey teams staying at the hotel, having somewhere outside the guest rooms to relax and socialize is useful.

There is also a business centre and quieter seating areas near the meeting spaces, giving guests a few options away from the main lobby.

Another interesting feature is the indoor waterfall, which adds something different to the space.

Overall, I liked how the lobby was arranged. It felt open and comfortable without sacrificing places for guests to sit.

Check-In Experience

Check-in was quick and easy.

Robin at the front desk was friendly, welcoming, and happy to answer my questions about the hotel and surrounding area.

I always appreciate staff who take the time to speak with guests, and Robin helped make a great first impression.

Parking at Courtyard Toronto Mississauga/West

One practical detail worth knowing is that the hotel offers complimentary outdoor parking.

Gated and heated indoor parking is also available for an additional fee, depending on availability at check-in.

Living in Canada, I can definitely see the appeal of heated parking during the winter. Not having to scrape snow and ice off your vehicle or walk outside in freezing temperatures would be a nice convenience.

For families travelling with luggage or hockey equipment, having both parking options is useful.

Between the comfortable lobby, modern design, and friendly service, our stay was off to a great start.

Room Tour: Upgraded Two Queen Studio With Sofa Bed

My dad originally booked a traditional two-queen guest room, but we received a really nice upgrade to a larger studio with two queen beds, a sofa bed, and an accessible bathroom with a bathtub.

As soon as we entered, I was impressed by how bright, clean, and spacious the room felt.

The studio had an open-plan layout with separate living and sleeping areas, giving us plenty of space to relax during our one-night stay.

Living Area and Room Layout

The first section of the room was the living area, which included a sofa bed, desk, and large flat-screen television.

I liked having somewhere to sit, watch TV, or use my laptop without needing to be on the beds.

A furniture unit divided the living and sleeping spaces without completely separating them. It also housed the mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, along with additional storage.

Those are practical features for anyone who wants to keep snacks, drinks, or leftovers in the room.

Two Queen Beds and Two Televisions

The sleeping area had two queen beds, another large television, and a comfortable armchair.

Both beds were very comfortable, and having two TVs was a great bonus.

It meant I could use one television while my dad watched something different on the other. For families sharing a hotel room, that flexibility is always appreciated.

Our room overlooked the front parking lot. It was not the most exciting view, but it was perfectly fine for our stay.

Bathroom and Sleep Quality

The accessible bathroom was spacious, clean, and well maintained, with a bathtub.

One thing worth mentioning is the hotel’s proximity to Toronto Pearson International Airport.

We could occasionally hear airplanes from our room, but after a while, we barely noticed them. The noise never became a problem, and both my dad and I had a really good night’s sleep.

Overall, this was an excellent room upgrade. The open layout, comfortable beds, extra seating, and practical amenities made the studio a great place to relax.

Wi-Fi & Gaming at Courtyard Toronto Mississauga/West

Now for one of the biggest highlights of the entire hotel: the Wi-Fi.

If you have watched my reviews before, you know that Wi-Fi speeds and gaming setups are two things I always pay attention to.

And this Courtyard did not disappoint.

Hotel Wi-Fi Speed Test

Connecting was quick and easy across all my devices, including my phone, laptop, iPad, and Nintendo Switch.

Throughout our stay, I did not experience any connection or reliability problems.

Using Ookla Speedtest, I recorded 357 Mbps download and 358 Mbps upload.

Yes, you read that correctly.

That put the Courtyard Toronto Mississauga/West at #3 on my Hotel Wi-Fi Speed Leaderboard at the time of testing.

I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels where simply streaming or connecting multiple devices can be frustrating. Here, the Wi-Fi was one of the best parts of the experience.

For guests who need reliable internet for schoolwork, video calls, uploading content, or gaming, those results are excellent.

Of course, Wi-Fi performance can vary depending on network conditions and the number of connected guests, but my experience was outstanding.

You can see how this hotel compares with other properties I’ve tested on my Hotel Wi-Fi Speed Leaderboard.

And the good news didn’t stop with the internet speeds. Connecting my Nintendo Switch was just as easy.

Nintendo Switch Setup

Both televisions were mounted on swing-out brackets, making the HDMI ports accessible without having to struggle behind a fixed TV.

Even better, electrical outlets were located right beside both televisions.

For this room, I simply unplugged the existing HDMI cable from the television and connected the HDMI cable from my Nintendo Switch dock.

The television automatically recognized the Switch, and I was ready to play.

There was no complicated setup, no need to move furniture, and no trouble finding somewhere to plug everything in.

I also spent some time gaming during our stay, and everything worked properly.

Between the exceptionally fast Wi-Fi, convenient HDMI access, and two televisions, this was one of the better hotel gaming experiences I’ve had.

Pool Vibes at Courtyard Toronto Mississauga/West

Next up, pool vibes.

I’ve seen plenty of indoor hotel pools, but this one immediately caught my attention.

For starters, you can actually look down into the pool area from the lobby through a large wall of windows.

Once downstairs, the two-storey ceiling, huge windows, and beach mural make the space feel much more open than I expected.

It almost feels like the hotel tried to bring a little bit of a tropical vacation indoors — which is a pretty nice idea when you’re visiting Ontario in March.

Indoor Pool and Hot Tub

The large windows bring plenty of natural light into the pool area during the day. Even when I filmed the space at night, it felt bright and welcoming.

The pool itself is a decent size for this type of property, and there is also a hot tub.

One of my favourite design details was the beach mural covering an entire wall. Combined with the high ceiling and windows, it makes the space feel different from the typical indoor hotel pool.

Pool Seating

My one observation was the limited seating around the pool.

During our visit, there were only four chairs and two loungers.

A few more seating options would be helpful, particularly when the hotel is busy with families or tournament teams.

Although I did not get the chance to use the pool or hot tub, I was impressed with the overall design.

Fitness Centre and Outdoor Courtyard

Another interesting design feature is that the fitness centre and pool area overlook one another through large windows.

This makes both spaces feel more open.

Fitness Centre

The gym was bright and well lit, even when I visited at night.

It had a good selection of equipment, including two treadmills, two elliptical machines, an exercise bike, a weight rack, a weight bench, a multigym machine, kettlebells, and yoga equipment.

For a Courtyard property, I thought this was a solid setup with enough variety for cardio and strength training.

I especially liked the windows overlooking the pool and outdoor courtyard. They made the space feel much less enclosed than some hotel gyms I’ve visited.

Outdoor Courtyard

The hotel also has an outdoor courtyard with seating and a fire feature.

Unfortunately, the space was closed for the season during our March visit, so we could only look down into it.

It looked like a comfortable place to relax during warmer weather, and I would have liked the chance to try it.

Overall, the hotel offers a good range of recreational amenities, with some interesting design features connecting the different spaces.

Food at Courtyard Toronto Mississauga/West

When it comes to food, the hotel has its own dining option, along with several restaurants and convenience stores nearby.

Breakfast at The Bistro

The Bistro is located just off the main lobby and serves breakfast in the morning, with food and drinks available again later in the day.

Keep in mind that breakfast is not automatically included with every reservation, so there may be an additional charge depending on your booking.

My dad and I decided to eat breakfast at The Bistro before checking out.

We both ordered breakfast burritos, and I have to say, they were really good!

They arrived hot, tasted fresh, and were a great way to start our morning.

The hotel also has a small market where guests can purchase snacks, drinks, and other convenience items.

Restaurants Within Walking Distance

One advantage of the location is the variety of nearby restaurants.

Pacini, an Italian restaurant, is located right across the parking lot from the hotel. That makes it a convenient sit-down option without needing to drive.

Another nearby spot is Derry Village Square, a shopping plaza within walking distance.

During our visit, the plaza offered several food choices, including Lazeez Shawarma, Wild Wing, Little Caesars Pizza, and Sunset Grill.

There was also Baskin-Robbins for ice cream and a Food Basics grocery store for snacks, drinks, and other essentials.

Having those options nearby is particularly useful for families staying more than one night.

Mississauga Entertainment Centrum

For additional dining options, Mississauga Entertainment Centrum is located around Hurontario Street and Courtneypark Drive, approximately a five-minute drive from the hotel.

The area included restaurants such as Turtle Jack’s, Moxies, and Montana’s BBQ & Bar.

For dessert, there was also Demetres, which offers a large selection of sweet treats.

Whether you’re looking for breakfast, a quick meal, or somewhere to sit down with family, there are plenty of choices around this Courtyard.

Things to Do Near Courtyard Toronto Mississauga/West

The hotel’s location is another reason it works well for visitors exploring Mississauga and Brampton.

Although it is not in downtown Toronto, several shopping, entertainment, and sports destinations are within a relatively short drive.

Cineplex Cinemas Courtney Park

Cineplex Cinemas Courtney Park is approximately a five-minute drive from the hotel.

It is a convenient option for an evening movie, a rainy day, or something to do after exploring the area.

CAA Centre and Hockey Tournaments

One reason this hotel stands out to me is its usefulness for hockey-related travel.

The CAA Centre in Brampton is home to the Brampton Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League.

If you have never attended an OHL game, it can be a fun opportunity to watch competitive junior hockey.

But the CAA Centre is much more than an arena for the Steelheads.

It is also a major sports complex with multiple ice surfaces used for hockey games, practices, tournaments, and other skating activities.

This is where my family’s history with the hotel becomes relevant.

We originally stayed here several years ago during one of my sister’s hockey tournaments. During this most recent visit, there was another tournament team staying at the property.

I can definitely see why teams and their families would consider this location.

The large lobby provides somewhere to gather outside the rooms, while the indoor pool, fitness centre, dining options, and complimentary outdoor parking offer conveniences that can be useful during a tournament weekend.

When families are spending a lot of time travelling between their hotel and the arena, those details matter.

Heartland Town Centre and Square One Shopping Centre

For anyone who enjoys shopping, there are two major destinations nearby.

Heartland Town Centre is a large outdoor shopping area in Mississauga with a variety of stores and restaurants.

Another option is Square One Shopping Centre, one of the major shopping destinations in the Greater Toronto Area.

Square One has an extensive selection of stores and dining options, making it an easy place to spend a few hours.

Both shopping areas are within roughly a 15-minute drive of the hotel, depending on traffic.

Toronto Pearson International Airport

The Courtyard Toronto Mississauga/West is also within driving distance of Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Robin at the front desk mentioned that the hotel regularly accommodates airline guests, including travellers whose stays are arranged by airlines.

That means it may be an option for guests dealing with flight disruptions or unexpected overnight stays.

However, there is something important to know.

The hotel does not offer an airport shuttle.

Unless transportation is arranged as part of your airline accommodation, you will need to organize your own ride between the airport and hotel.

Although this Courtyard could work for an airport stay, I have reviewed other hotels much closer to Pearson that I personally think are better options when your main priority is catching a flight.

For me, this property makes more sense as a base for hockey tournaments, shopping, dining, and exploring Mississauga or Brampton.

Final Verdict – Courtyard Toronto Mississauga/West Hotel Review

So, is the Courtyard Toronto Mississauga/West worth staying at?

After spending a night here and finally getting the opportunity to properly explore the property, I think the answer is yes.

This hotel is a great fit for families, particularly those visiting Mississauga or Brampton for hockey tournaments. It also works well for travellers who want a comfortable hotel with convenient access to local restaurants, shopping, and entertainment.

Standout Strength

For me, the biggest strength was how well the overall experience came together.

The spacious studio upgrade was excellent, with a comfortable layout that worked well for my dad and me.

But the Wi-Fi was probably my favourite practical feature.

At 357 Mbps download and 358 Mbps upload, it delivered some of the fastest speeds I have tested at a hotel. Add in the easy Nintendo Switch connection, and this was an excellent setup for someone like me who travels with several devices.

The unique indoor pool area, well-equipped gym, and spacious lobby were also highlights.

And I definitely cannot forget those breakfast burritos from The Bistro!

What to Know

I honestly did not experience any major problems during our stay.

My biggest suggestion would be adding more seating around the indoor pool, particularly for busy weekends when families or hockey teams are staying at the property.

The lack of an airport shuttle is also worth considering if you’re booking specifically for a flight, although it was not an issue for our visit.

Neither point would stop me from returning.

This Teen Travelz Approved

The Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Mississauga/West is This Teen Travelz Approved!

Between the comfortable room, excellent connectivity, interesting amenities, convenient location, and friendly service, there was a lot to like about this property.

This was technically my second stay, even though I barely remembered the first one.

After finally getting a chance to experience the hotel properly, I would happily return for a third visit.

Staff Shoutout

Before I finish, I want to give a special shoutout to Robin at the front desk.

He was incredibly friendly and helpful during check-in, and I appreciated that he took the time to answer my questions about the hotel and surrounding area.

It’s always nice when hotel staff make guests feel welcome and comfortable asking questions.

Thank you, Robin, for the great hospitality!
