Prince Albert’s Diner on Richmond Street was one of those classic downtown spots. The Keg on Richmond Street was another one I remember, especially because it was located in the old CPR station. As a kid, I thought that was so cool — and if you were lucky enough to be eating there when a train came by, it made the whole experience even better.

Bertoldi’s was another place my family liked that has since closed.

One of the best parts about staying at Residence Inn London Downtown is that you have walkable food options nearby.

The hotel is located on Dundas Street, which is one of the main downtown streets in London, Ontario. From there, you can walk through downtown, head toward Covent Garden Market, or continue up Richmond Street, also known as Richmond Row.

That gives you a good mix of pizza, casual restaurants, cafés, market food, and familiar sit-down options without needing to drive.

Cousin Vinny’s Pizza

One of my family’s usual stops near the hotel is Cousin Vinny’s Pizza.

It’s more of a hole-in-the-wall pizza place, but that’s kind of why it works. My family will usually stop in, grab a pizza, and bring it back to the hotel.

That is a perfect match for Residence Inn London Downtown.

Because the suites have a real table, kitchen, fridge, and microwave, bringing pizza back to the room actually makes sense. You can eat comfortably, save leftovers, and not feel like everyone has to sit around a tiny hotel room trying to find space.

From a teen perspective, this is one of the easiest food wins near the hotel.

Crabby Joe’s

For our actual dinner during this Residence Inn stay, my dad and I went to Crabby Joe’s.

We had spent the whole day walking around downtown London and checking out different spots, so by the time dinner came around, we were tired and wanted something close to the hotel.

My burger was good. My dad thought the food was okay — not bad, but not spectacular.

That is probably the fairest way to describe it. It worked because it was close and easy, but if I was planning ahead for my next stay, there are other places I would probably choose first.

I would not say skip it completely, but I also would not make it my top pick unless convenience is the main thing you care about.

The Morrissey House

If you want to stay close to the hotel but choose something with more of a local feel, The Morrissey House is one place I would probably look at before going back to Crabby Joe’s.

I did not eat there during this stay, but it stood out as a nearby option that felt more connected to downtown London.

This is one I would keep on the list for a future visit.

Covent Garden Market

Covent Garden Market is one of the best food areas near Residence Inn London Downtown.

It is not just one restaurant. It’s a downtown market with vendors, cafés, baked goods, treats, food options, and market-style stops.

This works really well with Residence Inn because the hotel suites have kitchens.

You can grab food from the market, bring it back to your room, use the fridge, heat things up, or just eat at the table in your suite. That makes it one of the most practical food options near the hotel.

During our visit, my dad and I stopped by Covent Garden Market and picked up treats from Culbert’s Bakery.

We were visiting on a Sunday, so the market closed earlier. If it had been open later during our stay, we probably would have grabbed dinner there.

That’s one thing to keep in mind: check the hours before you go, especially if you are planning around dinner.

Covent Garden Market also works well because everyone can find something different. One person might want baked goods. Someone else might want coffee. Someone else might want something more meal-like. You are not locked into one restaurant menu, which makes it easier when people are hungry but cannot agree on what they want.

The Works Craft Burgers & Beer

The Works Craft Burgers & Beer is another walkable option near the Covent Garden Market area.

I did not eat here during this stay, but it is close enough to the hotel and Covent Garden Market area that it makes sense to mention as part of the walkable food scene.

Tilt Arcade Bar

Tilt Arcade Bar is more of an activity spot than a restaurant, but it still deserves a mention in the food guide because it is near Covent Garden Market and has a snack/bar-style setup.

For me, Tilt was one of the best teen-friendly discoveries during this stay. It has retro arcade games, pinball, console booths, and free play after admission.

If you’re planning a downtown evening, this could be a fun combo stop: grab food around Covent Garden Market or nearby, then go to Tilt for games after.

One important thing to know is that minors are allowed until 8 p.m. with a parent or guardian, so for teens, this is more of an afternoon or early-evening stop.

Richmond Row Restaurant Options

If you keep walking up Richmond Street, also known as Richmond Row, you’ll find a lot more restaurant options.

This is one of the main food areas near the hotel, with everything from casual chains to local spots, cafés, pubs, and quick eats.

Some options you may notice around Richmond Row include Moxies, Smoke’s Poutinerie, Dimi’s Greek House, Toboggan Brewing Company, Chuck’s Roadhouse, Jack Astor’s Bar & Grill, and Black Walnut Bakery Café.

I have not personally eaten at every place on this list, so I would not treat this as a ranking. But if you’re staying downtown and want to walk around until something looks good, Richmond Row gives you a lot of choices.

Dimi’s Greek House is one I have not personally tried yet, but it comes highly recommended and is on my list for a future visit.

100 Kellogg Lane Restaurants Near Residence Inn London

Another major food area to know about near Residence Inn London Downtown is 100 Kellogg Lane.

100 Kellogg Lane used to be the Kellogg’s cereal factory, and now it has been turned into a huge food, entertainment, and event complex.

It is about a short drive from the hotel, depending on traffic, and it is one of the best places to combine food with activities.

That is what makes it useful for families and teens.

You can eat, walk around, check out the building, visit The Factory, play games, do activities, grab dessert, or just explore the complex.

The Beer Kitchen

The Beer Kitchen is one of the main sit-down food options inside 100 Kellogg Lane.

This is more of a restaurant-style stop, and it could work well if your family is visiting the complex for activities and wants to stay there for a meal.

I would look at this as one of the more complete food options at 100 Kellogg Lane.

BK Bakery

BK Bakery is another stop inside 100 Kellogg Lane.

During our visit, we picked up fresh bread from BK Bakery to bring home.

This is the kind of place that fits well with the Residence Inn setup because if you grab bakery items, bread, or snacks, you can bring them back to the hotel and actually store or eat them properly in the suite.

The Club House

The Club House is more than just food.

It has a sports-lounge type setup with activities like mini golf, duckpin bowling, golf and multi-sport simulators, and a casual hangout feel.

This could work well if your family wants food and something to do in the same place.

From a teen perspective, that is always a win because it is more interesting than just sitting through a long dinner.

The Factory Food Options

The Factory also has food options connected to the entertainment side of 100 Kellogg Lane.

That makes sense because The Factory has a lot going on, including arcade games, ropes course activities, trampolines, and other attractions.

If you are spending time there, having food nearby makes it easier to turn it into a longer stop without leaving the complex.

Powerhouse Brewing Company

Powerhouse is another restaurant option at 100 Kellogg Lane.

It has more of a casual brewery and smokehouse-style vibe, so I would treat this as more of a family dinner or parent-friendly option within the complex.

If your family is visiting 100 Kellogg Lane and wants a sit-down meal with a more relaxed feel, this is one to consider.

Shaw’s Ice Cream

Shaw’s Ice Cream is one of my favourite ice cream companies, so this is one of the easiest recommendations for me.

If you’re going to 100 Kellogg Lane and want dessert, Shaw’s is definitely worth considering.

My flavour suggestion is Grammy’s Cupboard.

This is one of those small details that makes a food stop more memorable, and for me, Shaw’s is a strong dessert pick near Residence Inn London Downtown.

If you have a car, you have even more food options around London.

For this guide, I’m keeping the short-drive section focused because most of the strongest food options for this hotel are either walkable downtown or connected to bigger areas like 100 Kellogg Lane.

Dolcetto

Dolcetto is one of my family’s favourite restaurants in London.

This is not right downtown beside the Residence Inn, but if you have a car, it is absolutely worth considering.

The food here is super good, and if you’re visiting during warmer weather, the patio is really nice.

I also still remember going there when I was younger and getting Wikki Stix at the table. That is one of those random kid memories that sticks with you, and it makes Dolcetto feel connected to my family’s London trips.

For me, this is one of the strongest short-drive restaurant recommendations near Residence Inn London Downtown.
