TownePlace Suites Woodstock – Woodstock, Ontario
Best for: Ontario road trips, brand-new hotel stays, fast Wi-Fi
A brand-new TownePlace Suites stay with one of the most unique hotel experiences I’ve had — we stayed just 6 days after the hotel opened and were actually the first guests ever in our room. The room felt fresh, clean, and untouched, with a full kitchen setup, plenty of outlets, strong shower pressure, and excellent Wi-Fi speeds of 183 Mbps download and 190 Mbps upload. The gym was better than expected, the pool was bright and solid for the brand, and the location works really well as a road trip stop between Toronto and Michigan. The main downsides were first-week setup issues, limited walkable food options, and a gaming setup that worked but needed some HDMI adjustments.

TownePlace Suites by Marriott Detroit Auburn Hills – Auburn Hills, Michigan
Best for: Great Lakes Crossing shopping trips, longer family stays, suite space
A shopping-weekend dream basecamp steps from Great Lakes Crossing Outlets. The 2 Bedroom Suite upgrade made this stay feel more like an apartment, with a full kitchen, separate bedrooms, and an easy living-room gaming setup thanks to a swing-out TV mount. Wi-Fi was mid-tier but usable, breakfast was solid, and while the gym was minimal, the location near Costco, Target, Buddy’s Pizza, and Topgolf makes this TownePlace a super practical choice for longer family stays.

Best for: quieter Niagara Falls stays, full kitchens, easy WEGO access
One of the newest TownePlace Suites in the region and a surprisingly strong teen pick: Top-10 Wi-Fi, easy HDMI gaming thanks to a swing-out TV mount, and a bright pool area with an outdoor BBQ hangout space. You give up walkable restaurants, but you gain a quieter stay, a full kitchen setup, and easy WEGO access to the Falls and Clifton Hill.

TownePlace Suites by Marriott Alexandria Fort Belvoir – Alexandria, Virginia
Best for: Virginia road trips, Mount Vernon visits, fast Wi-Fi
A super practical road-trip base near Mount Vernon and the National Museum of the United States Army, with fast Top-10 Wi-Fi and a plug-and-play gaming setup. The patio and gym were better than expected, breakfast was solid, and the only real downside was the pool area humidity during our visit.

TownePlace Suites by Marriott Chesterfield – Chesterfield, Michigan
Best for: cross-border shopping trips, longer stays, gym and pool amenities
This is basically a cross-border shopping basecamp: in-room kitchens, a bright pool, a seriously impressive gym for the brand, and a location that puts food, stores, and malls within 5–15 minutes. Wi-Fi leaned slower, but the swivel TV mount made gaming easy, and the BBQ + fire pit setup is a legit bonus for longer stays.

Best for: comparing what does and doesn’t work at a TownePlace Suites
A frustrating stopover with slow elevators, messy hallway repairs, slow hot water, and a Wi-Fi login process that took way too long — even though speeds ranked near the top once connected. Add a wall-mounted TV that made console hookup basically impossible and this one didn’t earn a teen-friendly verdict.
