  • TownePlace Suites Woodstock Hotel Review: We Stayed Here 6 Days After Opening

In this TownePlace Suites Woodstock hotel review, we stayed in a hotel room that had never been used before.

Not “recently cleaned”… not “newly renovated”…
I’m talking about brand new — like we were the first people ever in it.

In this TownePlace Suites Woodstock hotel review, we stayed just 6 days after the hotel opened to the public — and it ended up being one of the most unique hotel experiences I’ve had.

We stayed here for one night as part of a road trip to Michigan, making this more of a hotel stopover in Ontario — but it ended up being a really interesting test of what a brand new hotel experience actually feels like.

Location, Arrival & First Impressions

Right away, this felt different.

The hotel was extremely quiet, and everything had that untouched, just-opened feel. You could tell right away this was a new Marriott Woodstock Ontario hotel — nothing felt worn in yet.

The lobby follows the modern TownePlace layout, with the front desk right beside the market area, opening into the breakfast space. It’s bright, clean, and has a good mix of seating options that actually feel usable.

Check-in was quick and easy, and this is where we learned something surprising — the hotel had only been open for less than a week.

Kayla at the front desk was super friendly, gave us dinner recommendations, and made the whole arrival feel easy.

For a road trip hotel in Ontario, this was exactly what you want after a long drive, especially compared to some of the other hotels I’ve stayed at on similar routes.

Room Tour: Brand New, With a Few First-Week Hiccups

We originally booked a Studio Suite with 2 Queens but got upgraded to a larger 2 Queen Suite — and yes, the naming doesn’t always make sense, but I just go with what Marriott lists.

Our room was on the 5th floor, in the corner of the hotel… and we later found out:

👉 We were the first guests ever to stay in that room.

Walking in, the entrance and kitchenette area felt a bit tight at first. But once you move past that, the room opens up nicely.

This is where the extended stay setup really stands out.

You get:

  • a full fridge
  • stovetop
  • microwave
  • dishwasher

This is a true hotel with kitchen in Ontario, which makes it a great option for longer stays or even just more flexibility during a trip.

The main room had:

  • two queen beds
  • a desk/table setup
  • a TV above it
  • a chair with ottoman in the corner

The view wasn’t anything special (gas station + car wash), but for a one-night stopover, it didn’t matter.

There were plenty of outlets and USB ports, which is always a win.

The bathroom was a good size, with a bathtub, and the shower pressure and temperature were excellent.

And honestly — everything felt brand new.
Even the pillows hadn’t been broken in yet.

There were a couple small issues (like a plastic tab left on furniture and the sink needing adjustment), but that’s expected when staying in a newly opened hotel review scenario.

We reported it, and staff were super appreciative — which is actually a really good sign early on.

Compared to other TownePlace Suites I’ve stayed at, this one stands out mainly because of how new everything is.

Wi-Fi & Gaming Setup

This is where things got interesting.

Wi-Fi was easy to connect across all devices, and the speeds were seriously fast. Compared to some of the other hotels I’ve tested, this was one of the faster results I’ve seen.

I tested it using Ookla Speedtest and got:

👉 183 Mbps download
👉 190 Mbps upload

That’s one of the better results I’ve seen, and it puts this stay high on my Hotel Wi-Fi Speed Leaderboard.

That said, it’s worth noting that the hotel was still very empty — which can impact results.

As for gaming…

This is a perfect example of a hotel gaming setup issue.

The HDMI access wasn’t great. The Marriott box was installed too close to the edge, so I couldn’t plug into it directly.

I had to unplug it and connect straight to the TV.

It worked — but it wasn’t smooth.

I told staff about it, and they said they’d fix it, which again makes sense for a brand new hotel Ontario.

Pool & Gym: Better Than Expected

The pool setup worked well for this type of hotel.

It was bright, even at night, and had a nice layout with:

  • lounge chairs
  • side tables (a small detail that actually stood out)
  • a seating area with tables

Nothing crazy — but definitely solid.

The outdoor space was still under construction, but TownePlace hotels usually include BBQ areas, so that’s something to watch for once it’s completed.

The gym was actually a surprise.

It was larger than expected and easily one of the better TownePlace gyms I’ve seen.

There was:

  • cardio equipment
  • weights
  • benches
  • space for stretching

Overall — strong setup.

Food Options: Still Developing

This is where being a brand new hotel really shows.

The biggest advantage here is actually your room.

With a full kitchen, this works well as an extended stay hotel in Ontario, especially if you want to cook your own meals.

There’s a Zehrs grocery store about 5 minutes away, which makes that easy.

In terms of walkable food options — there’s not much right now.

There’s a Tim Hortons next door, and a brand new Denny’s is being built right beside the hotel (expected to open soon).

If you drive a few minutes down Dundas Street, you’ll find plenty of options.

We went to Chuck’s Roadhouse, and staff also recommended:

Breakfast was included, and it was okay.

Nothing bad — but not amazing either.

That said, from experience, breakfast at a new hotel Marriott Ontario location usually improves over time as occupancy increases.

Things to Do Near the Hotel

This stay was more of a road trip stop between Toronto and Michigan, so we didn’t explore too much — but there are still a few options nearby.

Pittock Conservation Area is a great spot to walk around and get outside, especially after a long drive.

Downtown Woodstock also has a nice small-town feel with a few local shops.

If you just want to stay in, the hotel offers board games you can borrow, which is actually a nice touch.

This isn’t a major destination city — but as a road trip hotel Ontario stop, it works really well.

Final Verdict – TownePlace Suites Woodstock Hotel Review (Teen Perspective)

So who is this hotel really for?

This is a great option if you’re looking for a road trip hotel in Ontario, especially if you need a stop between Toronto and Michigan or just a place to recharge for a night.

Overall, this TownePlace Suites Woodstock hotel review shows how strong this stay can be once everything is fully settled.

It also works really well for longer stays thanks to the full kitchen setup.

The standout here is how new everything feels — clean rooms, strong Wi-Fi, and staff who are still building out the experience.

The only downside right now is that it’s so new. There are still a few setup issues, and food options nearby are limited.

But overall, this is a really strong start.
